Wassup homies,
So shit got pretty cray these last two weeks hence why I've been out of touch so sorry again for that (do I start every blog with an apology?)
Anyway first things first.. the new job - I sign people up for charity in shopping centres or outside supermarkets. It's either UNICEF or Starlight (which is like Make a Wish in the UK) and there's usually two or three of us on a booth. I do get commission but the way it works is really good for the charity - basically if i sign someone up then VMG (a marketing and sales company) pay me commission but they don't get paid by the charity until the donor has donated for 4 months so that charity only pay out once they have been paid. It just means we don't take a cut of the donations - all the money people sign up for goes to the charity and then they only pay VMG when they've begun making profit which is much better for them than forking out upfront for TV ads that may or may not get them support.
Worked pretty flat out for the past two weeks - morning meetings are at 7:30am and we don't usually leave sites till 6/7ish which is a big chunk of time. First week was in the city and was pretty knackering but still managed to catch an outdoor cinema screening of Elf after work on Thursday which was cool! Sat in deck chairs outside watching a Christmas film was a new experience!
The weekend brought STEREOSONIC a huuuuuge music festival that I had a ticket for and I went on Saturday - highlights include Dash Berlin, Steve Aoki and Alesso! Was an awesome day but I couldn't go Sunday as well because we had to leave for the Tasmania road trip with work early Sunday morning!
Tassie was awesome though - weather is much more bearable than Sydney and together with the scenery it reminded me a lot of the UK.
On the Sunday we arrived and went to visit the gorge which was really pretty (photo below is a shite angle and doesn't do it justice). Me and the other new lad actually went for a swim in it which was interesting - it was quite cold and murky :/ (in the gorge, not the swimming pool infront of it!)
There was 8 of us on the roadtrip and we rented a car (which I drove yaaaay) and stayed in a nice house that had obviously been rented for the week and was much better than a hostel or hotel. We smashed sales all week on the road trip working all day everyday in sites all over Tassie so in the last two weeks I've made over $2K which is a really tidy sum to put towards more travelling and pretty amazing considering how long it would've taken me to make the same amount working in the UK!
View of Tassie as we were leaving
Clouds on the way back to Sydney!
Got another roadtrip leaving on Monday to Canberra which will be good (why am I even paying rent in Sydney ffs?) haha hopefully can smash some more sales in these last two weeks before Xmas in preparation for when Mark gets here and I sack off work and travel up the coast with him for a bit!
Peace x
